This week’s trivia question is for you to name the author of this quote: “I would like to live in Manchester, England. The transition between Manchester and death would be unnoticeable.” Hint: it’s not Robinho............Liverpool’s victory over Everton on Saturday showed Rafa Benitez at his maddening best. He pays $20m for Alberto Aquilani, yet refuses to play him. And he wins the game and has the team in 4th place. Infuriating..........By the way, the Merseyside derby was the first ESPN game I’ve watched this season. That was the best camerawork I’ve ever seen for a soccer game, superior to anything Fox and Gol TV have.................As of March 1, 2010, Setanta will be replaced by Fox Soccer Plus, presumably at the same price............By all accounts, Red Bull Stadium in New York is going to be one of the great soccer venues in the world. It opens on March 20th when the Red Bulls play an exhibition against Santos, with Robinho. New York opens MLS play at home the following week on March 27th against Chicago.........Rumors persist that the Red Bulls will be signing Thierry Henry. The Irish should love him in New York..............For those of you who wanted to go to the African Nations Cup last month, but were worried about safety, fear not. In 2012 the tournament will be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.........With apologies to World Soccer magazine, the best striker in the world is not David Villa; it’s Didier Drogba, and it’s not close.
